Temperament
Nova is a calm, protective, yet gentle personality. She has been amazing with our children, as well as others. She is very affectionate towards other people and is always eager to meet new people. Nova is also very social among other dogs. Nova can be energetic, but that is a staple of the breed. She has an amazing prey drive and is always eager to please.
Breed Standard
We believe Nova is a great representation of the golden retriever breed standard. She maintains the proportionate height and weight composition, intelligent facial structure, and an amazing color. Her coat is a deep golden hue, with feathering on her tail and limbs.
Loyalty & Camaraderie
Nova was born in Japan, where she joined our family. She has been an integral part of our life during the military. She has accompanied us to South Korea, and is finally here is Hawaii. Her resiliency and devotion to our family are one of her most admirable traits.
Health History & Testing
Embark Breed-Specific Ailments, etc.
List Title.
This test uses a saliva swab to decode the genetic makeup of the dog. The results can inform the breeder of any variants of genetic ailments the parent may be carrying. This specific Embark test also screens for 200+ other diseases and ailments that implicate canines. Nova's results are clear, except for one copy of a recessive variant she carries for ichthyosis- a painful skin disorder in Golden Retrievers. Thankfully, this is not of concern for the health of the puppies or Nova- as long as the other parent is clear for this variant, the puppies will not inherit the disease.
