Genetic Health Test Results!

We have received the test results of the genetic health regarding the sire and dam.

The sire has a recessive gene for PRA-2, which is Progressive Retinal Atrophy, causing blindness in the later ages. This is no cause for concern, because Nova is cleared of PRA-1 and PRA-2. For puppies to develop the disease, they must have inherited the recessive gene from both parents. In other words, our litter is clear of this disease, and will not inherit or develop them. Nova carries a recessive variant for Ichthyosis, which is the scaling of the skin. However, our sire does not carry this either, so there is no concern for our litter in that aspect as well.

And that is it! Our test screened for the following breed-specific ailments, in which none were detected in any of our parents:

- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRCD Exon 1)

- Golden Retriever Progressive Retinal Atrophy 1, (GR-PRA1)

- Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (NCL 5)

- Degenerative Myelopathy

- Muscular Dystrophy

- Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome

- Osteogenesis Imperfecta

- Retina Dysplasia

- Optic Nerve Hypoplasia
